Irrationality Implies Rationality

Irrationality is essential for rationality to exist. Men become rational critical thinkers by learning to identify irrational ideas and coming up with ways of refuting them. The contest between rationality and irrationality is never ending; it will go on for as long as humanity lasts. This contest invigorates our mind and makes us capable of critical thinking, and producing original and fruitful ideas. The civilizations which have been the fountainhead of mankind’s greatest rational ideas have also been the creators of our greatest irrationalities.

Your ``argument'' here is better served if you take converse/obverse/whatever verse of what you are saying. I mean to say, read this:

``You can’t combat rationality unless there is rationality---this is not because the absence of rationality would imply that there would be nothing for the irrational person to combat, but because rationality would acquire such dimensions that its spread would become unstoppable by any irrational means.''

How does that sound?

@Ajit, Of course, you can put it that way. I have used this particular line because my agenda here is to make the case that you can't have a society in which there is no irrationality. We live in a world of contrasts. We understand beauty because there is ugliness. We understand day because there is night. We understand rationality because we have the experience of irrationality.
